Bharat Stage VI has been mandatory for every new vehicle registered in India since 1 April 2020. Phase 2 (from April 2023) added real-driving-emission (RDE) limits and on-board diagnostics (OBD-II) that flag emission faults on the dashboard.
Most BS6 diesel trucks use selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and need AdBlue (diesel exhaust fluid). Budget for it — consumption is typically a few percent of diesel use — and buy it from sealed, branded packs.
